SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

BYLIGHT & NEXTSTEP

FEB 2020 - CURRENT

ByLight and NextStep are both contract-based IT companies supporting the government.

I started with ByLight as a software developer, learning on the job. When the contract expired and was picked up by NextStep, I secured one of the positions under the new contract to continue supporting the Army National Guard.

What I did:
  • JavaScript, SASS, C# learned while meeting deadlines.
  • Refactored code to simplify and increase readability.
  • Removed integrated styling to implement a global adaptive style that could be updated and iterated.
  • Increased retention on our team through team building.
  • Introduced new code techniques and resources to our team through professional development.
  • Created a custom icon set to better communicate.

MOTION GRAPHICS

FELLOWSHIP BIBLE CHURCH

2013 - 2020

A large, multi-campus tech and arts focused church

Fellowship gave me opportunity to put to use what I'd gained in school, as well as improve my project management skills while handling adding additional responsibilities.

  • Moved hearts and minds through storytelling.
  • Produced cinema quality motion graphics and VFX.
  • Worked within changing teams, talents, and schedules to produce excellent content within increasing demand.
  • Lead many creative projects from beginning to end with often vague goals and shifting timelines.
  • Stepped up to direct live production and lead teams of volunteers as internal team dynamics shifted.
  • Kept dozens of live production machines running flawlessly during critical times.

LEAD CREATIVE

APPLE RETAIL STORES

2009 - 2013

Retail store in Tulsa, OK before moving to open Little Rock, AR

I joined the Apple store team in Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked my way up to becoming a trainer for customers in the store. When the store in Little Rock opened, I moved to be part of the opening team, and co-lead the support branch of the store.

  • Developed a team of trainers who regularly exceeded Apple standards upon opening a new store.
  • Delighted hundreds of customers through learning.
  • Repaired thousands of relationships via tech support.
  • Trained customers from first click to cutting demo reels.
  • Deepened team relationships and skill through shadowing, feedback, stand ups and connection.
